Renamed htaccess.txt -> .htaccess, then had internal server error, googling (and reading explanation inside htaccess file) i found the solution: removed (commented out) "Options +FollowSymLinks".

System -> Global Configuration -> Site -> SEO Settings -> Use URL Rewriting -> Yes.
