I had the same issue...
This is the reply I got from the author, it should work all fine after that. It worked for me!

This may be an elementary question... but I'm really confused...

When I link a button to an article the path is the following;
latinissimodance.si/index.php/register-online

However, when I click from the menu to the same article "register online" the path is;
latinissimodance.si/index.php/classes/register-online

One path has modules on the right side - which is how I want it - and the other has none...
How come this is happening?? Its like the first one doesn't acknowledge the category in the path, but still gets to the same article.
Are you able to help me?

So I recommend using only one link: latinissimodance.si/index.php/classes/register-online

I'm using this link for the "Register Now" button in the "Promotion" module; (selected from the "insert/edit link" button in WYSIWYG editor)

...and for the menu button I'm using this link; (selected from "edit menu item")
index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=43



I tried copying the link from the menu (the one above), to use for the button... but didn't work... the url showed a strange path and didn't go anywhere...

@Casey01: Please try turn off Search Engine Friendly URLs and Use URL Rewriting then check again.
