Thank you rango for the solution:

I commented that the Breadcrumbs module already was created but it was in position 2, just change to the Breadcrumb.

Thanks again for your support.

Greetings from Mexico.

Hello Fred,

The shortcode working fine with Vina Medical II and K2 component, i've checked many time and don't see any problem.
I think you've purchased template Vina Medical, not Vina Medical II. Please check and confirm it.

Best regards.

I'm sorry for the very late reply to this. We've purchased Vina Medical II, and I've installed the VMII quickstart (vina_medical_ii_v1.1.3_for_J3.3.6.jpa) on localhost under XAMPP. The site appears fine, but when I create a K2 item and add a shortcode to it, the shortcode still appears as pure text in the end-user view, eg:
[accordion id="accordion1"]
[accordion_item title="Accordion Title"]
Who is the walrus?
[/accordion_item]
[accordion_item title="FAQs"]
Who is his audience?
[/accordion_item]
[/accordion]

How can I enable shortcodes?
Fred

Hello Fred,

I don't see your Order in our system? Where did you buy Vina Medical II?
And could you please upload it to online host? Then we can check to see what is the problem there.

Best regards.

That's because the order was placed by a colleague of mine, Kerry Cyster. The order was for membership of the JTC and JEC Developer club.
And could you please upload it to online host? Then we can check to see what is the problem there.

I've not uploaded VMII to an online host yet - I'm testing it on localhost with XAMPP for Windows (latest version 5.6.3) under Windows 7, using the Quickstart file supplied with the VMII template zipfile (vina_medical_ii_v1.1.3_for_J3.3.6.jpa). I've not made any configuration changes - I've just run the Quickstart file with Akeeba Kickstart. After installing the Quickstart file, the steps I carried out are:
  1. create a K2 item
  2. click on Helix Shortcodes at the bottom of the editor
  3. select Accordion shortcode - the shortcode code is placed in the editor
  4. click on Save
  5. set a menu item to point to the K2 item
  6. open the user view and clicked on the menu item
  7. the K2 item appears with the shortcode code - the shortcode is not rendered
This is using a VMII system that is 'out of the box'. I'm not going to use the template online until I can get the shortcodes working on localhost. The only reason which we bought VMII was to have a template in which shortcodes worked.

So, is there a configuration item which I need to set to enable shortcodes?

Fred

Hello Fred Riley,

I think you also fail k2 helix shortcode not working. I'm new also fix this error.

First of all open the item.php file from "components/com_k2/templates/default/" folder and look for the suitable output code where you want to see shortcodes working. For example look for the code
<?php echo $this->item->fulltext; ?>

Now replace that code with below code
<?php
if( function_exists('do_shortcode') )
{
echo do_shortcode( $this->item->fulltext );
}
?>

Note: If you are using any of our template that comes with K2 support then the template path will be templates folder and "YOUR_TEMPLATE/html/com_k2/templates/default/".

Thanks

This is a disappointing reply. When I first reported this problem, of shortcodes not working in K2 items, Rango replied:

"The shortcode working fine with Vina Medical II and K2 component, i've checked many time and don't see any problem."

He advised me to upgrade to Vina Medical II, so we've done that and the shortcodes still do not work. The 'solution' of hacking the PHP code is not good. The template should work as promised. Vinagecko bundles K2 with VMII and the sales page for VMII says that the template "comes with tons of shortcode ". What it should say is that the shortcodes will only work with Joomla articles, not with K2 items.

I'll make the PHP edits but this may cause problems for whoever comes after me in this job.
